Amalgamated Industrial Steel Sdn. Bhd. (‘AIS’) was incorporated initially as a private limited company on 20 November 1969 and made history in being the first manufacturer of steel pipes in Malaysia. It was formed by a group of leading local hardware importers and consumers supported by Tokyo Boeki Limited and Kawasaki Steel Corporation, two Japanese organizations which were renowned in the steel industry. The company commenced operations with an initial paid-up capital of RM4 million, out of an authorized capital of RM10 million on 18 May 1971.

Following its steady growth and success, AIS was converted into a public company, Amalgamated Industrial Steel Berhad (‘AISB’) on 10 December 1974. it was a prelude to another milestone when it obtained a listing on the Main Board of Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange on 28 June 1983.

Amalgamated Industrial Steel Berhad is engaged in the manufacture and sale of steel-related products, mainly black welded steel and galvanized industrial pipes, square and rectangular hollow tubes, tubes, conduits and C-and-lipped channels. The Company operates in three divisions: The manufacturing of stainless steel pipes, and the trading of other steel related products. The Company’s subsidiaries include Amalgamated Industrial Stainless Steel (1987) Sdn. Bhd. and Amalgamated Industrial Marketing Sdn. Bhd.

While AISB is taking active measures to venture into new growth areas to diversify its income stream, the steel division will remain an important feature of its profile. The company is truly proud of its origins as well as its achievements in the steel industry, with its products having attained national accreditation such as SIRIM Product Certification and ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System and international standards such as BS, JIS and ASTM.

AISB dedicates itself to providing quality products and efficient services. Customers mainly are local stockists, some of whom are listed on the local bourse, have been maintained on a long-term and close business relationship. The company is complimented with a team of professional staff to attend to their needs, before and after sales. Excellent products and efficient services have long become the hallmark of the company.

The wholly owned subsidiary, AISS, the manufacturing of stainless steel products, which was formed and commenced production in 1987. The company’s products included welded austenitic stainless steel pipes, welded stainless steel mechanical ornamental tubing, welded stainless steel pattern tubes, welded stainless steel water tubes, sanitary tubes, austenitic stainless steel butt welded pipe fittings, and stainless steel screwed-end fittings.

The Group’s steel manufacturing activities are conducted at two plants housed separately at two different locations in Shah Alam, Selangor. In the pursuit of expanding the Group business in other areas, ASSM, a dormant and wholly-owned subsidiary of AISB, was reactivated and renamed as AIM on 20 October 2005 to focus primarily on trading activities.

AIM is the trading arm for AISB and AISS which trade not only the products produce by the manufacturing division but also wider range of products to meet the needs of its customers. The product range constantly expanding in line to the demand of the end users.

The principle products marketed by AIM are high tensile deformed steel bars, wire mesh, angle bar (carbon and stainless steel) dehydrated lime (contruction and water treatment), timber, granites, HDPE pipes, high tensile galvanized purlin, steel strapping, mild steel round bars, and Portland blast furnace cement.
